Hampton, New Jersey– October 23, 2008 – Kramer Electronics, a worldwide supplier of innovative and reliable signal management products, announced today the release of its new VP-727xl In-CTRL Seamless Switcher. The VP-727xl is a new version of the very popular VP-727 model that incorporates HDMI inputs and outputs. The unit is designed for use in presentation applications that require a preview option or that require seamless switching between inputs using special effects, cuts and fades, as well as in projection systems used in conference rooms, board rooms, auditoriums, hotels and churches.
The new VP-727xl In-CTRL is equipped with dual scalers which offer preview and program output channels and can switch seamlessly frame-to-frame between two sources. Dual scalers are a staple of staging and live production applications as they are required to perform "live" seamless transitions from one source to another. The VP-727xl offers eight universal inputs each with 5 BNC connectors. These universal inputs can accommodate composite video, s-Video, component video, RGsB and RGBHV video signals. The VP-727xl also has two HDMI inputs. Inputs 1 and 2 can be used either as universal inputs or as HDMI inputs. The Preview and Program outputs are each available on three sets of output connectors; an HDMI connector, a 15-pin HD connector and a set of 5 BNC universal output connectors. All the outputs are simultaneously active regardless of input type selected unless the HDMI connectors of inputs 1 and 2 are used with HDCP encrypted signals. In that case, in accordance with the HDCP standard, the analog inputs are shut off and only the HDMI outputs will be available.
The VP-727xl incorporates Kramer’s high performance K-Storm™ scaling technology for high quality full up and down graphics scaling and 3:2 and 2:2 pull down processing. It automatically accepts and processes all variations of NTSC, PAL and SECAM signals, and the unit has multiple output resolution settings conforming to the most popular display standards in the market as well as 480p, 576p, 720p,1080i and 1080pHDTV output resolutions and one user definable output resolution setting. Output signals are also selectable between the RGB and YUV color spaces and are simultaneously available on three different connector types – a set of 5 BNC connectors, a 15-pin HD connector and an HDMI connector – for both the Preview and the Program output channels.
The VP-727xl utilizes Kramer’s high quality K-IIT™ picture-in-picture Image Insertion technology. The VP-727xl also has multiple aspect ratio adjustment capability, allowing the user to select between 4:3, 16:9, anamorphic, letter box and user-definable settings independently for both the Program and the Preview output channels. The unit has a front panel lock out button, a “Take” button, text overlay capability, blue or black video blanking, image freeze and zoom controls, a built-in TBC and a built-in proc amp for signal settings and adjustments such as color, hue, sharpness and more.
The unit can be controlled using the front panel buttons, an included IR remote, an Ethernet port or RS-232 signals. The switcher also has a remote control port on the back panel for operation with the VP-727T In-CTRL Seamless Switcher Remote Control Panel featuring a convenient “T” bar lever for manual transitions. The VP-727xl has a worldwide power supply and comes housed in a 3 rack unit high, standard 19” rack mount enclosure.
